Michigan’s VR Therapy and Counseling Center has won a total of $30,000 in Comcast’s Innovations 4 Entrepreneurs contest.
The therapy center has found success treating patients that suffer from PTSD, social anxiety, and phobias using virtual reality.
“Because the the virtual reality experience feels real, this high-tech tool can be more effective than traditional talk therapy or role playing,†Thomas Overly, the owner of VR Therapy and Counseling Center, told The Grand Rapids Press.
Overly plans on investing the $30,000 to upgrade and expand the capabilities of the virtual reality technology used in the center.
