Zero Latency opened the doors of the world’s first virtual reality gaming arena in Melbourne, Australia yesterday.
Players carry a backpack containing a computer and wear an Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 headset and carry a gun controller.
Sessions are 50-minutes each, and run in the evenings and weekends for groups of up to six players. The game play involves shooting zombies, and tickets are AUS $88 per player.
Players move around in an open space of 400 square meters, but it feels like a larger space inside the virtual reality.
“We reuse the space with some nifty tricks we have developed,” the company said on its website.
The company added that, so far, nausea has not been a significant problem.
“Every part of the system is designed to give you an immersive experience without any of the motion sickness typically associated with virtual reality systems,” they said. “In our testing, out of over 400 people only one has had to stop playing due to motion sickness.”
