On its tenth anniversary, Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education is adding a new element in to its conference program, a science fair.
“Educators from all disciplines and levels are invited to participate,” outreach committee head Lorraine Mockford, also known as LoriVonne Lustre in-world, said in an announcement. “If you are interested in including an immersive project as part of your curriculum this coming fall, consider showcasing it with us.”
Science fair exhibits can be in such subject areas as science and mathematics, social and behavioral sciences, and fine arts such as language, art, music, and theater.
Proposals can be submitted by an entire class, or by individual teachers. The deadline for submission is July 15. Submit proposals here.
The conference itself will be held March 28 to April 1, 2017. This year’s conference was held in March in both Second Life and OpenSim. Check out the conference proceedings in an electronic journal format or watch the video recordings of the event.
