Press release: Havok Enters Enterprise License Agreement with Kongsberg for Havok’s New Simulation Technology
Industry Leader in Military Training and Simulation Standardizes on Havok’s Technology to Deliver High-Quality Simulation Training Across Multiple Training Programs
SAN FRANCISCO — Havok, a leader in real-time simulation and 3D visualization technology, has entered into an agreement with Kongsberg, a Norway-based premier international supplier of defense and aerospace-related systems. The new contract will allow Kongsberg to utilize Havok’s 3D full-featured simulation technology, including Havok Vision Engine, Havok Physics, Havok Destruction, Havok Animation, Havok AI, and Havok Script, as part of an effort to build high-quality, immersive simulation training systems for a wide range of training scenarios for their clients.
“Kongsberg is a veteran defense and aerospace contractor driven by their dedication to develop best-in-class solutions for their clients and diligent in their third party technology acquisitions,” said Cory Kumm, Director of Military & Simulation at Havok. “Following extensive investigation, prototyping and comparative evaluation of Havok technology our entire product portfolio was selected by Kongsberg to use as part of a common core technology infrastructure for simulation and training development across the company.”
Kongsberg is already taking advantage of Havok technology on one of many projects under development that are due to be commercially delivered within only a few months of their technology acquisition. The first of many projects will bring entirely new technology and training capabilities to the market all within project timeline scope and budget.
“The extended feature set from Havok will enable us build a multitude of training systems to meet the specific requirements of our clients, from operator, driver and combat training to multi-player war gaming,” remarked Torberg Fremnes, Product Manager, Simulation & Training at Kongsberg. “The ability to accomplish all of this with Havok’s integrated technology allows us to save costs and deliver more programs with greater capability, due in part to the advanced technology and workflow of Havok in addition to efficiency savings from having a common core technology our company can leverage across all our programs.”
Kongsberg will take advantage of Havok’s updated simulation technology which incorporates new capabilities for simulation development. The new technology provides training system developers with a complete end-to-end development toolkit for creating compelling, high-quality simulation and training.
